This isn’t just a vase - it’s an ancient calendar. It dates from the 3rd-4th centuries BCE, and is from the Chernyakov culture, which existed from the 2nd to 5th centuries BCE in what are now Belarus, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine.

Movable rings are attached to the handles. It was produced with a potter’s wheel and subsequently polished to achieve the grey colour. The mouth is covered with ornament divided into 12 zones, which seem to represent an ancient calendar.
