They're called this because the weather is very unpredictable, supposedly like the moods of said old women. Now, thing is, everyone has a "baba", that is, one of these days is assigned to you, and the weather that day will predict how the year will go for you. Some people say that you get to choose your baba. My grandma however says you're assigned one based on your birth date
